Education Unplugged at the Crumlin Road Gaol
Integrated AlumNI were delighted to host our inaugural event, Education Unplugged, in the historic Crumlin Road Gaol. Our guests were political heavyweights DUP MP Ian Paisley Junior and former hunger striker and blanket protester Pat Sheehan MLA from Sinn Féin.
We debated how education shaped their views during The Troubles in NI and the narratives that shaped them from their respective education and wider community. We were pleased to have such an interactive discussion with powerful questions and challenges from the audience which really highlighted the passion we all have to further the cause.
The event reinforced the importance of integrated education and the wider integrated ethos within society across NI and beyond.
On the back of the success of the event we hope to make this a recurring series inviting guests who do not necessarily fit into the Integrated Education landscape and we are always open to suggestions of who you would like to see taking the stage at the next Education Unplugged.
